I commend this bakery for being ALL nut-free, dairy-free, so those with allergens can enjoy desserts worry-free. I was impressed with the number of different bakery items they had, including cupcakes and mini cupcakes, cookies and mini cookies, fresh bread/loaves, pastries, donuts, brownies, cakes and pies! We got a variety to try and enjoyed each one. You can also call ahead of time to order cakes. We were helped by a male behind the counter who was nice and patient.

Also - the prices were very affordable. We ordered 4 pastries + 3 mini cookies and the total came out to be less than $9! We have been to other "allergen-friendly" bakeries and would have probably paid twice as much. Definitely will be coming back!

I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews so I wouldn't have been so blindsided by the disrespectful customer service I received here. What a trip! I was coming in from out of state to host my son's baptism and ordered cake for 30 people about four days in advance. In hindsight, the fact that I wasn't asked to prepay for my order might have raised a red flag. I asked to pick up the cake when the bakery opened at 8 am on Sunday, since I would be coming from 30 miles away and needed to be back for the baptism. I was told it would be ready at 9 am, and I agreed to that.

On Sunday morning, I woke two sleeping nut allergy kids to drive the 30 miles with me and pick out some treats for themselves on what I thought would be a special errand. Instead, I got a call at 9:08 saying the cake wouldn't be ready until 11. I was already a mile from the shop, so I went in anyway. I was told the owner would be coming in at 11 to START MAKING the cake, and no I cannot speak with the owner to understand what happened here. At this point, I was totally floored that a bakery would take an order for cake for 30 people and then just completely not make it at all with no apology other than "our bakers are behind." ::shrug:: When you have family members with life threatening allergies, you can't just pop over to the Kroger for replacement cake and at this point I was only a couple of hours from my event with 30 guests and no time to try to make something myself.

In the end, I was able to leave with two prepared bumpy cakes from their case (one of which was free at my request). They tasted ok, but the whole rest of the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. This store missed several opportunities to act like they cared about me and my event: (1) they could have anticipated being possibly short staffed for the weekend and told me they couldn't take my order during the week; (2) on Friday they could have noticed they were behind and warned me about the change in time for Sunday; (3) they could have called me when they opened on Sunday to let me know they had nothing for me and saved me the long trip over there.

Overall, I was excited to find that this kind of bakery exists in the Detroit area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back (and certainly wouldn't waste time preordering something).

I've lived across the street from this Bakery for eight and a half years and I was in once when I  first moved in.  The customer service was so horrendous I've never been back again. They acted like they were doing me a favor taking my money. The only reason I am posting this review is because I was in the plaza at CVS and Google Places asked had I been here. I teach hospitality industry customer service and I thought this was a perfect opportunity to remind people that good experiences may or may not be passed along but bad experiences I never forgotten.

Their chocolate chip cookies are crumbly deliciousness. I couldn't really tell they were dairy free. The carrot cake, however, was a bit dry and although the frosting and presentation was cute and all I could do without it as the taste of the icing was a little off.
Good overall and great for those with dietary restrictions

We discovered this past year that my 9 year old son is allergic to cow dairy. We had heard this  bakery had some dairy free treats, so on Sunday we walked in, waited our turn, then asked, "It's our first time here - can you point us at the dairy free stuff?"

The young woman behind the counter responded, "Everything in here is dairy free - the donuts, the danishes, the cakes and cupcakes, the pies - everything!"

My son was astonished. He told me a few minutes later that "This is my favorite place in the whole world!"

We took a few treats home - some cake, a danish ring, and a cheesecake, and he and my wife (who is also allergic to dairy) raved about all of it!
